The increase in employer NICs, announced in the recent Budget, will have a detrimental effect on General Practices, dentists, hospices, and care homes – it will mean tens of thousands of pounds of additional staffing costs. Many smaller healthcare providers will struggle to find this sort of money and I am deeply concerned that attempts to do so could have a direct impact on the level of care provided to patients.
Together with colleagues, I have written to the Chancellor urging her to reverse her decision and, at the very least, exempt all those organisations who provide NHS services and support.
