At the end of the month MPs will be asked to vote on The Terminally Ill Adults (End of Life) Bill. This legislation would, for the first time, legalise assisted suicide (sometimes called assisted dying) in the United Kingdom.
This vote raises questions medical, ethical and political in nature and I have been carefully considering these in recent weeks as I have researched and read around the subject at some length. My intention is to reach a final position after having had a chance to read the draft Bill and to communicate this decision to constituents ahead of the vote which will take place on November 29th.
While the ultimate decision - and the responsibility for taking it - will be mine alone, I would be extremely interested to hear back from you as to where you stand on this most sensitive of issues.
